Your First Class

A three-week trial, then you decide.

Welcome to our dance home

What a first class is like

For a first class we make sure your dancer feels happy and safe, with a warm welcome from our staff, our senior helpers and the dancers already in the studio.

We can show you around the studio, introduce you to your teacher, and buddy your dancer up with a fellow class member.

How the trial works

  • Tell us their age

Fill in the online form. It takes a few minutes and you do not need to know which class you want.

  • We suggest a class

The office gets in touch to recommend a class and a day, and to answer your questions.

  • Three weeks

We offer a three-week trial to settle your child and make sure it's the right class and the right fit for you, before you enrol fully.

  • Then you decide

If your dancer carries on, fees move to the monthly direct debit plan. After the trial we work out the next payment so it lines up with the regular fee dates.

What it costs

After the trial, each class has one monthly fee, taken on the 15th. Find your dancer's stage below.

Joining

Upon joining, a £25.00 registration fee is added to the first month's payment for all new enrolments. The registration fee is only charged once.

Your first monthly payment only covers the rest of the month you join, so you just pay for the classes that remain.

There is also an annual membership fee of £30.00 per child for dancers in Galaxy Stars and above, charged on the 1st of March and pro rata when you join. Preschool and Super Stars dancers do not pay it.

See the worked example on the fees page.

Paying Monthly

Fees are collected on the 15th of each payment month, four payments a term. The notice period to leave is four weeks.

What to wear and bring

Wear

Depending on the level of the class we recommend leggings and a T-shirt, or a leotard. A fairy dress is perfect for our littlest dancers.

School shoes or trainers can be used for Tap at first. We have plenty of spare ballet shoes and tap shoes to borrow.

Hair should be neat and off the face in a bun, ponytail or similar style. For Ballet, please use a classical ballet bun where possible. The LLDS YouTube channel includes Miss Lovick's bun tutorial.

Avoid

No jeans or jewellery, please.

Once your dancer is settled, they need to wear the correct school uniform and footwear for their class. Each class page lists its uniform, and it is all in the uniform shop.

On the day

Dropping Off

Parents drop off and collect in the courtyard after class.

You are very welcome to stay on site if your child is nervous. If you do stay, we ask you to wait outside the studio rather than in it, as fewer distractions help dancers get more from the session.

The exception is our pre-schoolers, aged 3 to 4. Their parents need to stay on site and wait in the reception area.

When you arrive, a teacher will collect your child from the door. Please make sure you see the teacher at the door before leaving your child.

Getting Here

208 Sydenham Road, London SE26 5SE.

  • Free parking on all the local streets around the studio
  • A bay for three cars directly outside, with a 40-minute waiting limit
  • A bus stop right outside on Sydenham Road
  • Lower Sydenham and Sydenham are the nearest stations

After the trial

Uniform

Order the correct uniform for the class from the online shop. There are two order deadlines each term.

Staying In Touch

Class messages, videos and practice support come through the BAND app. Email newsletters carry wider studio news.

Term Dates

The school year runs over 36 teaching weeks in three terms, of 12, 11 and 13 weeks.

Ready when you are

Tell us your dancer's age and we will suggest a class and a day. Or call and talk it through first.
