Two focused pathways for dancers in Years 3 to 6, age 7–10: take Classic, Dynamic or both. Classic 1 and Dynamic 1 are for ages 7–9, Classic 2 and Dynamic 2 for ages 8–10.

How the trial worksISTD Ballet gives dancers a strong technical foundation. Lyrical contemporary adds musical interpretation, creative movement and performance quality.
Classic 1 runs twice on Saturday as two separate groups in different studios. Your dancer joins one of them.
ISTD Modern and Tap develop strength, rhythm and performance, with a little funky jazz and plenty of West End energy.
Dynamic 1 runs twice on Saturday as two separate groups in different studios. The Monday class is a shorter 75-minute version at a reduced fee.
Dancers take ISTD exams when they are ready. This short video shows what to expect, and the dance exams page has the details.
Option 1: Teal leotard, convertible ballet tights, ballet shoes with elastics and teal mesh contemporary dress.
Option 2: White ballet T-shirt or leotard, black cycle shorts or leggings, white ankle socks and white ballet shoes with elastics.
From Year 7, age 11, dancers move up to Inters: Classic Stars 3 and Dynamic Stars 3 and 4, taken on their own or together.
Dancers from ISTD Grade 2 upwards learn classical repertoire with our Head of Ballet, Miss Melinda. The class runs on Saturdays, alongside core Ballet training.
