Classes
Miss Lovick LISTD Principal - ISTD Modern, Ballet and Tap
Lucy Lovick started dancing at the Margaret Durrant School of Dancing and continued her professional training at Laine Theatre Arts, where she gained her Associate teaching qualifications and Advanced dance exams in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap. She was a finalist for the Laine Theatre Arts Modern Dance Award three years running and choreographed for many of the student shows.

She has had an extensive and successful professional career working in Spain and Italy in television and theatre as a dancer, singer, actress and choreographer. She has worked with many of the top TV directors and producers and has performed with many stars such as Kylie, Take That and Julio Iglesias to name but a few.

Her credits include
• The famous TV show ‘Un, dos, tres’ where she was a presenter and lead dancer
• In the spanish girl pop group ‘Ahora’, recording an album with a top 20 hit and tour of Spain.
• Choreographer and head girl in the musical ‘El diluvio que viene’ at the Calderon Theatre, Madrid
• Choreographer and producer for promotional work with L’Oreal, Gillete, Reebok, Motorola and Danone.

Lucy has put her invaluable experience into her teaching and is dedicated to providing expert and quality tuition. She is committed to her professional development and regularly attends courses and seminars in dance and related subjects. She has Licentiate Status with the ISTD.
Continued Professional Development includes;
• Qualified as an Acrobatic Arts Teacher and we are an official AcroPAD centre
• Recognised PBT teacher ( Progressive Ballet Technique)
• Dance Teacher and Health Professional Level Two Flexibility Intensive

Lucy Lovick is a Recognised Teacher with CDMT and has been awarded the certificate of good professional practice. Teachers awarded CDMT’s Recognised Teacher Award demonstrate to students, parents and guardians that they adhere to the standards demanded by the industry; standards designed to protect and safeguard young people whether dancing for leisure or with an eye to a career in the profession.
Many of her ex-students have gone on to full -time training at dance colleges including Laine Theatre Arts, Bird College, London Studio Centre, Urdang , The Centre PAC and LIPA.

Miss Melinda
Miss Melinda MA (Education – Dance Teaching), BFA (Dance)
Melinda Green Traves has earned her Master of Arts degree in Education, specialising in Dance Teaching, with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Dance/University of Bath. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from The Boston Conservatory, and is a graduate of the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory and the Greater Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts. Melinda is a member of the RAD and the ISTD London Teacher’s Group, and served as a student representative for the RAD Teaching and Learning Committee. She has taught dance and worked as a choreographer in Connecticut and New York as well as in London.

In her past life as a professional dancer, Miss Melinda was a company member of the New York Dance Theatre, and toured extensively across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Far East as a dancer and singer in musical theatre.

Miss Melinda teaches ballet, pointe, and ballet repertoire, and her teaching methods are approached through her knowledge of Laban Movement Analysis, choreography, dance history, and the traditions of classical ballet.

Miss Jo
Miss Jo DDI Ballet Modern and Tap
Jo Asher started training at the Dorothy Marshall School before moving to the Margaret Durrant School of Dancing. She has completed her professional dance exams with the ISTD in Ballet, Modern and Tap. She is a registered member of the ISTD and currently attends the Anthony Clifford Dance Studios for the ISTD DDE teacher training qualifications.

Miss Jo teaches Ballet, Tap and Modern at our Saturday school and is a valuable member of the Saturday team.

Mrs Rebecca Maskell GGSM
Mrs Rebecca Maskell GGSMBallet Pianist and Singing Teacher
Mrs Maskell is our wonderful pianist who accompanies all the Pre-school Ballet Classes.

Trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she is now Monkey Music’s Company Training Manager and also the Franchisee for Monkey Music here in South East London. She was recently nominated for the Most Outstanding Class Leader on the Whatson4littlesones awards.

Mrs Maskell explores music and song with the young children and develops their musicality through play and imagination.
Both her daughters attended the dancing school and Mrs Maskell loves her advanced adult tap class on a Thursday!

Miss Chloe Nestor-Frusher
Miss Chloe Nestor-Frusher DDI Modern and Tap
Miss Chloe trained with Miss Lovick for 5 years before accepting a place at The Centre of Performing Arts under the direction of Miss Karen King.
She was awarded the college diploma and completed her Advanced Two ISTD qualifications in Ballet, Modern and Tap as well as her her Teaching Diploma of Instruction of Dance in Modern and Tap.

After graduation Miss Chloe successfully auditioned for Grayboy Productions and embarked on a 9 month Cruise with P and O Cruise Lines in Australia and the South Pacific. She has also worked on various TV commercials and MTV music videos.

Miss Chloe works as a freelance teacher and is one of our guest teachers.

Miss Helen Cheesman
Miss Helen CheesmanDDE Modern and Tap, MA (Musical Theatre)
Miss Helen teaches many genres at the school including ballet, modern, tap, street jazz and singing. She has a Master of Arts in Musical Theatre Performance from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and trained at the prestigious Bird College of Dance.

Miss Helen has a passion for dance and musical theatre and brings a wealth of experience to our school. As a young girl she was a member of the National Youth Music Theatre and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. She was also a trained in Irish Dancing and performed at the World Dance Championships in Belfast, 2008 and London, 2014. We are delighted to have Miss Helen as part of our teaching team.
